A ruckus broke out at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi when the Mangala Aarti was taking place. A spark suddenly erupted from the top of the sanctum sanctorum and soon a fire broke out. Fire broke out due to short circuit. As soon as the fire was reported, there was chaos in the temple premises. Devotees started running here and there. But the service personnel and the police brought the situation under control. The fire was extinguished by switching off the electricity.

After this, the entire temple premises were inspected. The good thing is that there were no casualties in the incident. But due to this, the Aarti was interrupted for some time. According to the information, the incident took place on Thursday at 4.55 am. A short circuit in the cable leading from the southern entrance of the sanctum sanctorum to the golden pinnacle of the temple started sparking. Seeing this, the servicemen and policemen immediately removed the visitors from there.

In no time the spark turned into a ball of fire in a niche near the peak. The power supply was switched off without wasting an opportunity to prevent the fire from spreading further. But by then the devotees present in the temple were panicked. He hesitated to enter the door. After this, keeping in mind the security, the police also removed the devotees from other gates. During the inspection by the electrician, a fault was found in the cable installed for power supply from the southern entrance of the sanctum sanctorum.

SDM of the temple Shambhu Kumar said- electricity is being supplied to the sanctum through very old wires. Rain caused sparking and short circuit. Because of this, darshan and worship from the south door was disrupted for some time. There was no damage. Under the leadership of the SDM, a team of electrical mechanics and engineers inspected the power cables and supply areas one by one. Along with this, old wires have also been marked.

The SDM said that the old cable is running in the old part of the temple. Some parts have been renovated. It will be done for other places also.
