How did Hum Qureshi find Gangs of Wasseypur?
Huma Qureshi is a big name in Hindi cinema today. However, if she had listened to her family members in the beginning, she would hardly be in this position today. Just like every child’s parents want their child to study and do something big in life, Huma’s parents also wanted the same. But then the family accepted Huma’s decision to go into acting. It starts from Delhi, because Huma was born in Delhi. He did his studies from here. Along with studies, he also started doing theater during his college days. He joined a theater group called ‘Act 1’. But her family members wanted Huma to study abroad instead of acting.
Got a year’s time away from home
Huma said about this in an interview, “Dad felt that my mind had gone mad due to over-studying. My parents advised me to go abroad and do MBA. But when I told my dad that I would regret for the rest of my life that I would not be able to fulfill my dream because of him, he became emotional. The very next day he brought me to Mumbai. He told me to come back if nothing happens in a year.”

Huma shifted from Delhi to Mumbai in 2008. He auditioned for a film called Junction, but the film never materialised. After which he signed a 2-year contract with a company to work in TV ads. She made her first advertisement with Abhishek Bachchan. It was a mobile phone advertisement and Huma was a reporter in it.
That’s how I got my biggest break
Later he did commercials with big stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. And it was by working in Aamir’s advertisement that he got a big film.
