No tribal people died due to diarrhea and vomiting in Kawardha.
The District Collector formed a three-member team to investigate the deaths of tribals in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha. Investigation by this team revealed that the Baiga tribals did not die of diarrhea but due to other causes. The investigation team included the Chief Medical Officer and several senior health officials. However, the situation in the village is normal now.
The team that went to investigate said that the cause of death was not diarrhea but the health deteriorated after eating wild mushrooms. One died during treatment at home. Investigation revealed that in another case, after a normal delivery, she had gone to her maternal uncle’s house in Madhya Pradesh. He died there due to ill health. However, the exact cause of death will be clear only after the post-mortem report.
Rapid fever survey is being conducted from house to house
During the investigation, action is being taken by the health department to supply water to homes by installing pumps in new bores and connecting pipelines. Along with this, door to door rapid fever survey is being conducted by health workers and Mitanin by organizing a health camp at Sonvahi in the village, all possible cases are being investigated and treated and the villagers are also being made aware about hygiene.
People in the affected area are being made aware
Chlorine liquid and zinc tablets are being continuously distributed in the affected area. The team goes door-to-door to sensitize people about boiling water, adding chlorine to the water and drinking it after 20 minutes and drinking ORS solution from time to time. People are being told not to eat outside food. Use clean and clear water. However, drinking boiled water would be better.
