Delhi Water Minister Atishi

Delhi Water Minister Atishi inspected the Wazirabad Barrage on Friday. Meanwhile, he said that the water level here has dropped to 669.7 feet on June 7 as compared to 671.3 feet on June 2. The water minister said that there is a continuous hearing in the Supreme Court regarding the solution to the water problem of the people of Delhi. A meeting of the Upper Yamuna Board has been ordered and the hearing will be held again on Monday. Along with this, he also accused the Haryana government of creating a conspiracy.

Water Minister Atishi alleged that since the water issue reached the Supreme Court on June 2, the Haryana government has reduced the release of water into the Yamuna towards Delhi. As a result the water level here is continuously decreasing.

Delhi is dependent on Yamuna

The water minister said that Delhi is dependent on Yamuna river for water supply. The same water that enters the Yamuna River is released from Haryana. Water from Yamuna is supplied to Wazirabad, Chandrawal and Okhla water treatment plants. When water supply is reduced and water treatment plants are reduced, it is inevitable that the supply will be affected. It will cause trouble to the people of Delhi.

Getting water from Himachal

Water Minister Atishi said that Himachal Pradesh is also telling the court that we are ready to help but the Haryana government is plotting. The water minister said that now we will place this entire matter before the Supreme Court. We hope that Delhi will continue to get its share of water and surplus water from Himachal Pradesh without any hindrance, he said.
