According to India Meteorological Department officials, a low pressure area has formed over west-central Bay of Bengal since Tuesday. Because of this, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the eastern coast of the country. Its effect can last for next one week.
According to the IMD report, heavy rainfall is predicted for the next five days in Central and North-Eastern India including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa. In this sequence light rain is likely to occur over large parts of Delhi NCR today. According to the Meteorological Department report, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 26 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, but the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to drop by two degrees on Wednesday.
Rain in West Bengal and Odisha
On the other hand, light to moderate rain is likely in most parts of West Bengal for the next two-three days due to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. During this period, some other districts including Darjeeling and Kalimpong are also threatened with landslides. Similarly, more than 20 districts of Odisha are likely to receive heavy rains. Many parts of Bengal and Odisha may be affected due to cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, the IMD bulletin issued for the state said.
Weather will change in hilly states
The Indian Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. According to a report from the Shimla center of the Meteorological Department, the state has not received rain for three days, so the weather has warmed up a bit. But now there may be heavy rain in Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur etc. districts of the state. The IMD has predicted rain and hail for two days in about a dozen districts of the state.
Chance of heavy rain in Mumbai
On the other hand, the Meteorological Department’s Dehradun center has also predicted light to moderate rains in many districts of the state and possibility of landslides at some places. Similarly, heavy rain is expected in half a dozen districts of Maharashtra today and light rain in few districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert especially for Mumbai. It has been raining heavily here for the past three days. Similarly, a red alert has been issued for Thane and Palghar today.
