Due to rising water level in Yamuna, Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control Department Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj took a boat along with officials of the department to take stock of the Yamuna situation and instructed regional DMs and SDMs to remain alert during the inspection.

Meanwhile, speaking exclusively to TV 9 Bharatvarsha, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the water level in Yamuna is currently at 204.35, which is almost the warning level. There is no possibility of any threat at present. Delhi’s Floods and Irrigation Minister Sourav Bhardwaj said the current level is 204.35. It has approached the danger mark, so today I inspected the preparedness of our flood and revenue department. A warning will be announced etc. will be initiated.

‘Instruction issued to people to avoid accidents’

Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that around 13000 cusecs of water is being released from Hathini Kund barrage, due to which the water level in Yamuna in Delhi is likely to rise. Therefore, people living on the banks of the Yamuna have been advised to stay away from the Yamuna and take precautions. It is often seen that when the water level rises, the children of the people living around the Yamuna come to bathe in the water and have fun, leading to frequent accidents. People have been advised to stay away from Yamuna and take precautions to avoid such accidents.

Saurabh Bhardwaj said that before the arrival of monsoon, pilot cuts were made by the department between the mud islands in the middle of the Yamuna, which proved to be very effective this time with the arrival of monsoon, water flows easily through the pilot cuts made in the Yamuna between these islands and At the same time the islands which were formed due to slow freezing over the years, all the islands were also washed away from the water flow, we can hope that even if the water level in Yamuna rises, this time there will not be any problem of flooding the areas around Yamuna.

Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that whenever the water level in Yamuna rises too much or goes above the danger mark, people living in the vicinity of Yamuna are displaced and shift to upper areas. All arrangements for accommodation, food and medicine are made by the government. At present, there is no situation in Yamuna that would require evacuation of people living on the banks of Yamuna, but even if such a situation arises, all preparations have been completed by the department.
