Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena on Thursday temporarily dissolved the Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission (DDCD) alleging bias. The LG also allowed the removal of its non-official members. Now they cannot be reinstated unless a system is created for screening and selection of domain experts as vice-presidents and members. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has criticized the LG’s decision and has even spoken of going to court.

In a file note sent to the Delhi Chief Secretary, Lt Governor Saxena said that the entire exercise by the present government to create the DDCD was only to provide financial benefits and provide protection to some favored political persons with partisan leanings.

The LG said, “The commission was created to act as a policy think-tank, run by domain experts on the lines of Planning Commission or Niti Aayog. With the help of this government input can be given to the people. He said that there is a plan to retain the posts of vice-chairman and non-official members for the tenure of the current government.

He said, “Though initially these posts were honorary, they were later converted into posts with good pay and allowances. The Vice-Chairman of the DDCD began to be given the rank, pay and facilities equivalent to a minister in the Delhi government and the non-official members were given the rank, pay and facilities equivalent to a secretary to the government. Facilities began to arrive. of India.” He said that there is a lot of nepotism and favoritism in these appointments.

This is trivial politics: Saurabh Bhardwaj

Reacting to the development, Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj accused LG Saxena of “petty politics”. He said, “Dissolving Delhi Dialogue Commission by LG is petty politics. Everyone knows that political appointments have been made without any examination or interview in all the commissions, committees and boards of the central government or BJP-ruled state governments.

Bhardwaj said in a post on social media platform X, “This is an old tradition. Women Commission, SC/ST Commission are living examples of all these. Ironically, Vijay Saxena’s appointment as LG is also a political appointment without any advertisement, examination or interview. The Aam Aadmi Party leader further said that if any advertisement is given in newspapers for the post of LG, they should inform the people of this country. It is possible that he appeared for written exam to become LG.

In the year 2022, DDCD Vice-Chairman Jasmin Shah was barred from performing his duties and his office was sealed. Apart from this, all the facilities provided to them were also withdrawn after the order was issued by the LG.
