Delhi: DPCC engineer arrested red handed for taking bribe, CBI recovers Rs 2.39 crore

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two people, including an environmental engineer, in a corruption case. A senior environmental engineer of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and another person have been accused of accepting bribes. On Monday, the CBI arrested him red-handed along with a bribe of Rs 91,500.

According to the CBI, cash worth around Rs 2.39 crore has been recovered from the house of a senior environmental engineer of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC). The CBI has taken this action under the policy of zero tolerance against corruption. The environmental engineer is accused of accepting bribes from representatives of private companies.

From the post of Engineer Rs. 2.39 crores recovered

The CBI registered a case on September 8 against a senior environmental engineer of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and four private individuals and other unidentified persons. During the search by the CBI, from the premises of a senior environmental engineer, Rs. 2.39 crore was found. While exchanging a bribe amount of 91,500, another person was arrested along with the engineer.

The FIR has alleged that the accused senior environmental engineer is involved in corruption. He was also involved in a conspiracy with an accused who acted as an intermediary and consultant for firms in matters related to DPCC. He used to take bribes from representatives of private companies to favor them in renewing DPCC consent for their companies.

The CBI laid a trap and caught him red-handed

According to the CBI, the middleman allegedly collected the bribe money from the companies on the instructions of the public servant and handed it over to the DPCC engineer within a few days. At the same time, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Senior Environmental Engineer (DPCC) and the middleman’s son red-handed while exchanging a bribe of Rs 91,500.

The CBI said that the residential and official premises of the accused were searched after the two were caught red-handed accepting bribes. In which Rs. from the residential premises of the accused senior environmental engineer. 2.39 crore in cash and some property documents were recovered. CBI has arrested environmental engineer Mohammad Arif and Kishlay Sharan Singh (son of middleman). Further investigations are underway.
