AAP leader Mukesh Ahlawat.
Atishi today took oath as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi. 5 ministers have also taken oath with him. One name of Mukesh Ahlawat is also included among these ministers. He is a new face in the cabinet. Ahlawat has an MLA from Sultanpur. He has been included in Atishi’s cabinet. AAP has also made a political move by inducting Ahlawat into the cabinet. Along with this, a Dalit face has been given a place in the cabinet.
However, there were two more names as Dalit faces. But Mukesh Ahlawat, who became MLA for the first time, was given importance in his place. He contested the Delhi Assembly elections for the first time from Sultanpur Majra on a party ticket. And won big by almost 50 thousand votes. He has been inducted into the Atishi cabinet from Dalit quota. It is believed that AAP is trying to win North-West Delhi through Ahlawat. In such a scenario, we will know how Ahlawat, who handled the family business, became a minister.
From father’s business to minister of Delhi
Mukesh Ahlawat was born on 8 November 1975. He completed his studies in Delhi. After this he started taking over his father’s business. After the year 2012, he decided to contest the assembly elections. At first no party bet on this new face. But Ahlawat was constantly trying to strengthen himself on the field. In the year 2013, Ahlawat joined the BSP and contested the assembly elections from BSP supremo Mayawati’s party. However, Ahlawat, who was contesting assembly elections for the first time, had to face defeat.
Even after the defeat, Ahlawat remained active in his area. Keep entering people. After this, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party and once again contested the 2020 assembly elections with full strength from Kejriwal’s party. This time Ahlawat’s hard work paid off and this time the people of Sultanpur gave him a chance to go to the Delhi Assembly. He was the only MLA in the Kejriwal government. But Ahlawat has been sworn in as a minister in Atishi’s cabinet.
Why did Ahlawat become a minister?
In fact, this area of North West Delhi is a Dalit-dominated area. North-West Delhi has a total of 10 assembly seats. Out of which 3 are reserved for Dalits. The Aam Aadmi Party won 9 out of 10 seats in the last elections, but the 2024 Lok Sabha elections saw a major blow to the AAP-Congress alliance. AAP and Congress suffered crushing defeats in North-West Delhi. In this area of 10 assembly constituencies, the alliance was defeated in 9 assembly constituencies. Sultanpur Majra seat of Mukesh Ahlawat was leading by only 1 seat.
