Recently, Cyclone Yagi originating from the Pacific Ocean has affected the weather system of the country. Uttar Pradesh has been affected the most. The Meteorological Department has predicted a cyclonic circulation of upper air over North Andaman Sea and surrounding areas around September 21. It is likely to move northwestward and under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest and central Bay of Bengal around September 23. Scattered light to moderate rain is likely over central India during the week.

Rains have stopped in Uttar Pradesh but river bank areas have experienced flooding. Many rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Ghaghra, Saryu in the state were flooded due to heavy rainfall for the last few days. Their water level has gone above the danger mark. Areas of Varanasi, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Pilibhit, Badaun, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Unnao, Gonda, Mathura, Basti, Prayagraj, Barabanki are in the flood zone. The village on the banks of the river has been flooded. People are being taken to safe places by the administration. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain warning.
37 roads closed in Himachal
It is raining continuously in Himachal Pradesh. 37 roads, including the Hindustan-Tibet road NH-5, were closed for vehicular traffic on Thursday due to rain. According to officials, 57 power supply schemes were disrupted. The local meteorological office has issued a yellow alert for storm and thunder on September 25. At the same time, during this season from June 1 to September 19, rainfall has decreased by 18 percent.
The state received 572.9 mm rainfall as against the average of 701.7 mm. Scattered light to moderate rain is likely over East India and Northeast India during the week. Rain is likely in Odisha on September 22 and 23, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from September 22-25, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya from September 23-25.
