When the dam broke, the river water entered the houses.
The Ganga and Ghaghra rivers have started showing their raging form in Ballia, a border district of Uttar Pradesh. Due to flooding in both the rivers, the dam has broken near Chand Dyer Manjhi village of Bairia taluk of the district. Due to this, the Gazipur-Hajipur National Highway No. 31 was washed away and about 40 to 50 meters of this highway was submerged in the water flow. As soon as the dam broke, the river water rushed into the surrounding villages. In such a situation, people sleeping on beds in their homes started floating while sleeping.
With great difficulty, people took shelter on the roofs of houses. With the help of NDRF and SDRF, who reached the rescue during the day, they were able to get out of the flood affected area. DM, SP and other officials reached the spot and started the relief work as soon as they got information about the dam break. According to the villagers, the water pressure in Ganga and Khaira is increasing continuously. This caused panic among the people living nearby, but no one expected that the water would break the dam like this and devastate the entire area.
1000 families affected
In such a situation, people were sleeping peacefully in their homes. According to ADM Devendra Singh, Bihar has been completely disconnected from Ballia due to water pressure. He said that more than a thousand people have been affected due to this flood. So far around 200 people have been rescued and brought to a safe place. Naina Kumari, a resident of Yadav Tola in Chand Diyar, says she used to sleep at home with her family at night. Meanwhile there was a loud noise.
