A big relief news has come for the followers of Asaram. Asaram finally got 7 days parole from Rajasthan High Court. Rajasthan High Court Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati granted 7-day parole to 82-year-old Asaram for treatment. After 11 years now Asaram will get a chance to breathe in open air. Asaram was arrested on 31 August 2013 on charges of rape. After this, the self-proclaimed baba knocked the court doors several times to come out, but the court did not listen to him.
Asaram was arrested on 31 August 2013 in a case of rape of a minor. After this his followers protested in many places in the country and abroad. However, legal proceedings against Asaram continued. During the hearing of this case, another case of rape was registered against Asaram. After a long hearing, the court declared Asaram guilty in both the cases. Asaram is currently lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail after the court sentence.
This is the same Central Jail where Salman Khan was also lodged, though he came out after only 3 days. Asaram has also mentioned Salman’s case several times. Asaram will complete 11 years in jail on 31st August. In all these years, Asaram has not got bail or parole even once.
Knocked the court door several times
Asaram knocked all the doors from the High Court to the Supreme Court and filed more than 15 petitions in the last 11 years. Meanwhile many veteran lawyers represented Baba in court but Asaram did not get even a day’s relief. The doors of the Central Jail were locked in such a way that Asaram did not get a chance to come out. On 25 April 2018, after a trial lasting 5 years, the court convicted Asaram and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Reference to advancing age and disease
Asaram is said to have been born on 17 April 1941 and has reached the age of around 83 years. Earlier too, Asaram had appealed to the court for parole citing advancing age and illnesses. However, despite several applications, Asaram did not get a chance to come out. Asaram’s health deteriorated inside the jail two days ago, after which he was shifted to AIIMS. Meanwhile, a parole appeal was made on behalf of Asaram for emergency treatment. Which has been given conditional approval by the High Court.
Where will Asaram be treated?
The High Court has allowed Asaram to undergo treatment at Khopoli Madhav Bagh Hospital in Maharashtra. Allowed up to 7 days. The court has allowed treatment in police custody. Any expenses incurred by the policemen during this period will be borne by Asaram. Asaram can be accompanied by two attendants and a doctor.
