Disagreement in Haryana Congress

Congress gave a big blow to BJP by winning 5 out of 10 seats in Haryana in the Lok Sabha elections. With this, there were expectations that the Congress would return to power in the state after ten years, but after the results, the internal discord in the Congress has come to the fore. Former minister Kiran Chaudhary and his daughter former MP Shruti Chaudhary, who are handling the political legacy of former Chief Minister Chaudhary Bansilal, have left the Congress and joined the BJP.

Randeep Surjewala and Kumari Shailja are cornering Bhupendra Singh Hooda on the pretext of Kiran Chaudhary. There is a conflict between the groups of Hooda and Selja over the selection of Congress candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. Could the political upheaval within the Congress eclipse the Congress’ hopes of a return to power?

Congress is fighting within

Congress has been out of power in Haryana since 2014. After the Lok Sabha elections, the assembly elections are going to be held, regarding which the game of check-mate has started. The BJP is trying to revamp its political equation after its defeat in the Lok Sabha elections while the Congress is grappling with infighting. Even after Kiran Chaudhary left the party, factionalism did not end. Kumari Shailja, the elected MP from Sirsa, has opened a front against Bhupendra Singh Hooda, while Randeep Surjewala is also seen in a different stance.

The Shailja-Surjewala-Kiran Chaudhary trio were known as Bhupendra Hooda’s opponents, but after Kiran left the party, it seemed that the SRK group would fall silent. Surjewala has questioned Kiran Chaudhary’s exit from the party. He said that if even a Congress ally leaves the party, it causes loss and sorrow. Even if a worker leaves, the loss is greater if the leader leaves. The party leadership should consider the reason why we have lost our important comrades. Surjewala may not have named Hooda, but everyone knows why Kiran Chaudhary left the party.

Kumari Shailja raised questions

Kumari Shailja also supported Kiran Chaudhary. He said that whatever happened to Kiran Chaudhary was very wrong. He also said that Shruti Chaudhary should have got a ticket from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh. Kumari Selja questioned tickets for Karnal, Gurugram, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh and Sonepat. Selja said that Congress could have won all the Lok Sabha seats if the ticket allocation in Haryana had been done properly. Shelja was referring to Bhupendra Singh Hooda, to which Hooda replied that the ticket was not distributed by him but by the Congress high command. If Selja has any objection to the decision of the Congress High Command, he should go there and express it.

Congress state president’s advice to Selja

Not only Bhupendra Singh Hooda but his close aide Congress State President Chaudhary Udayabhan has advised Kumari Selja. Udaybhan said that such statements by Selja break the morale of the workers. He said that Selja is the National General Secretary of the Congress and a member of the Congress Working Committee. She used to attend Congress meetings. In such a situation, Selja feels that if the Congress candidates were weak, he himself is responsible for this. It is not appropriate for any leader to comment on the decisions of the Congress leadership. Selja is a senior leader of the party and has also been in-charge of various states. If a senior leader of the Congress party makes such statements, it sends a wrong message to the lower party workers.

Accusation-counter-politics intensifies

Accusation-counter-politics has intensified in the Congress over the distribution of tickets in Haryana’s Lok Sabha elections. While Sulaija and Surjewala are saying that Kiran Chaudhary’s departure is a loss for the party, Gudda group leaders believe that if someone is unfaithful in the house, it is better for him to leave. Ajay Makan directly blamed Kiran Chaudhary for his defeat. Due to the political turmoil going on within the Congress since the Lok Sabha elections, it is believed that the Congress may be affected in the assembly elections.

Congress defeat in Bhiwani-Mahendragarh seat

The main reason behind Congress’ defeat in Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seat is factionalism in the party. The Congress lost the seat to Kiran Chaudhary, as he wanted his daughter to contest from the seat, but the Congress high command fielded a close leader from Huda as its candidate. In Haryana, Kumari Selja and Randeep Surjewala are together in the Congress, while on the other hand there is the Hooda group.

The political relationship between Bhupendra Singh and Kumari Selja is well known. Similarly, Randeep Surjewala is also considered to belong to the anti-HUDA group. If the same battle continues in the Congress, the hopes of returning to power in the state may be eclipsed, as the leaders of each other’s factions will be seen defeating each other instead of winning. In such a situation, the hope of returning to power of the Congress can be defeated?
