Home Department Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary gave an update on development works to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Earlier, 60 percent of murders were due to land disputes. Now it has come down to 46.69 percent. Various proposals related to Home Department were also discussed in the meeting.

Complete 35 percent reservation for women

The Chief Minister said that 2,29,139 posts have been sanctioned in various categories to increase the strength of Bihar Police. 1,06,436 policemen are employed. Remaining vacancies should be filled immediately. Police play an important role in maintaining law and order. Reinstatement of the police at the remaining places as soon as possible will facilitate the maintenance of law and order. We have provided 35 percent reservation for women in police since 2013. At present the number of women in Bihar Police has reached around 30 thousand. The participation of women in Bihar Police is the highest in the country. He said that the 35 per cent reserved seats for women in police recruitment should be filled soon.

Gains from increasing women’s participation

The Chief Minister said that with the increase in the number of women in the police force, it is easier for women who come to the police station to get their complaints resolved and their confidence is increasing. Separate arrangements have been made for the convenience of women officers and women police personnel. After coming to the government in 2005, development works have been done in all areas. Along with educating women, many works have been done to make them self-reliant.

Crimes related to land disputes should decrease.

He said that women have become educated and have also become self-reliant, due to which there has been a positive change in the society and the family. The chief minister said that more than 60 percent of the killings are due to land disputes, which are now on the decline. It is reported that it has reached 46.69 percent, which is good. He said that the work of land survey and settlement should be completed speedily so that the incidence of crimes related to land dispute is completely reduced. The administration and the police should keep a watch on the anti-social elements with full vigilance.
