Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren will face the majority test of his government in the Assembly today. Given the current numerical strength, this is being considered as a mere formality. The cabinet will be expanded after the confidence vote in the assembly. Ministers will be made from the quota of JMM, RJD and Congress in the state. Along with this, political activities in the state have intensified ahead of the floor test. Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a meeting with ruling coalition leaders at his residence late night.

The floor test and cabinet expansion were discussed in this meeting. After the meeting, Congress leader Pradeep Yadav said that we all know that winning the floor test is not difficult because we have enough numbers. After getting approval from Raj Bhavan, preparations are being made to take the oath of ministers at Birsa Munda Stadium from 3 pm today. Along with this, the cabinet will also be expanded. At the same time, the BJP on the Soren government has said that a corrupt government has returned to the state.

Numbers game in Jharkhand Assembly

Hemant, 48, was sworn in as chief minister on July 4, less than a week after being granted bail in a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam. If we talk about the majority figure, currently the number of members in the 81-member assembly is 76 as four MLAs have won the Lok Sabha elections and reached the parliament. In which two are from BJP and two from JMM. At the same time, former JMM MLA Sita Soren resigned from the post before joining the BJP in March. She is the sister-in-law of Hemant Soren. 39 MLAs are required to prove majority in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. JMM claims that it has an absolute majority.

It is being claimed that out of 76 MLAs, the Bharatiya Janata Party has 46, which is seven more than the majority figure. At the same time, the BJP-led NDA has 30 MLAs, so the NDA is far from a majority figure. Jharkhand Congress spokesperson Satish Paul Munjini says they are fully prepared to win the floor test. When Hemant claimed to form the government against Governor CP Radhakrishnan on July 3, he said he had the support of 44 MLAs.

Hemant Soren spent 5 months in jail

Hemant Soren has spent five months in jail and was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court on June 28, after which it was said that he could once again become the Chief Minister. This speculation turned out to be true. In fact, Champai Soren resigned from his post just five months after taking oath, leaving open the possibility of Hemant Soren becoming the chief minister again. Champai Soren was sworn in as the 12th Chief Minister of Jharkhand on February 2 this year at the Raj Bhavan. Hemant Soren’s move to recapture the seat of power in the state is being considered as a big bet as the state is due for elections later this year.
