After the announcement of the results of the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who formed the government with the BJP in Maharashtra, has also started to show his attitude. CM Shinde is demanding two ministries for his party after the announcement of 2024 Lok Sabha election results. If sources are to be believed, Shinde is interested in two ministerial posts in the Modi 3.0 cabinet. Shinde has 7 MPs. Meanwhile, CM Eknath Shinde called a meeting of all the winning MPs at Varsha Bungalow and all the winning MPs were felicitated. In the first election under Shinde’s leadership, 7 MPs have won the election. After discussing future politics with MPs, Shinde will leave for Delhi late in the evening.

A meeting of the constituent parties of the NDA has been called in Delhi on Friday. Shinde will attend that meeting. Even before this, he has told the BJP leaders about his demand.

Meanwhile, mutual bitterness between Eknath Shinde and BJP leaders has surfaced in Maharashtra after the announcement of election results. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis offered to resign from his post after accepting responsibility for BJP’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections. This brought to light the bitterness between the BJP and Eknath Shinde’s party. Fadnavis resigned yesterday to focus on his role as a legislator in the Maharashtra Assembly.

Upset with BJP’s interference in candidate selection

Sources say that Shinde group leaders are unhappy with the BJP’s interference in the selection of candidates for Lok Sabha constituencies like Mumbai South, Nashik, Hingoli and Yavatmal. The leaders allegedly claimed that the BJP imposed its candidates or delayed the selection of candidates during the Lok Sabha elections. The result was visible in the results.

He further argued that the Shinde Sena’s performance in the state was better than that of the BJP and demanded that Shinde should conduct the state elections without interference from the BJP. Amidst this tension, Eknath Shinde called a meeting of his party’s MPs at Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai today to discuss the Cabinet posts.

Shiv Sena performance in 2024 Lok Sabha elections

The ruling Shiv Sena faction led by Shinde won seven of Maharashtra’s 15 Lok Sabha seats, including Shinde’s stronghold of Thane. However, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has faced defeat in two major Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai.

The upcoming assembly elections will be crucial for Shinde, as he will decide which faction will be known as the ‘real’ Shiv Sena after the 2022 party split. During the elections, out of 15 seats, the Shinde-led Sena directly contested 13 seats with the Shiv Sena (UBT) and won six seats.
