Chhattisgarh: Brides, grooms and middlemen… all in the same gang; 17 lakh rupees was cheated by taking dowry from the boy

A case of fraud of more than 17 lakh rupees in the name of marriage with a businessman has come to light in Durg district of Chhattisgarh. A businessman falls prey to fraud while trying to get his son married to a local Jain girl. Taking advantage of the love of the native girl, seven people lured the businessman into their trap. All seven people played different roles. After the marriage, it came to know that the married girl’s name is not Purva Bharti Jain but Bharti Nargavep.

In fact, when Purva’s husband asked her for an Aadhaar card, she refused and started making excuses. After which the whole matter came to light. The family of the victim of fraud lodged a complaint with the police.

This is the whole matter

Dinesh Jain, who lives in Shanichari Bazar, in his complaint to the police said that his father’s business and the marriage of his sisters delayed his marriage. Many relations came for marriage but the family members were looking for a native Jain girl. When father talked about marriage with famous Mahavir Jain of Surat, he gave information about Sarla, a lady agent living in Indore.

When the family members spoke to Sarla, she sent the details of Purva Bharti Jain of Indore. Dinesh said that father, younger brother and sister reached Indore to see Purva to take forward the marriage talk. When they reached the address given by the girl, there was a boy in her house who claimed to be Purva’s younger brother. To fix the marriage, the lady agent Sarla paid Rs. 1.5 lakhs was demanded but to show face Rs. 11,000 was given.

16 lakhs was asked for before marriage

After which the girl’s father and other people were interviewed. At the same time, a stipulation was made that only the boys should bear the wedding expenses. Dinesh said that the wedding cost was around 16 lakh rupees. After the relationship was finalized, Sarla demanded Rs 16 lakh but was given Rs 5.5 lakh. It was said that the remaining amount will be paid later. The wedding took place on May 3 in a hotel in Indore. The rest of the money was given to the girl’s family before the marriage.

Police arrested seven people

Based on the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against seven people. Police station in-charge Vijay Yadav said that all the seven people have changed their names. During the interrogation, everyone has given their real names. He stated that the maiden name of Bharti Jain is Bharti Nargavep, the real name of the marriage agent Sarla is Sarla Jadhav alias Harsh.
