Kothi No. 575, located in the posh area of Chandigarh, Sector-10, was attacked with a hand grenade on Wednesday. Family members were present inside the house at the time of the incident. After the explosion of the hand grenade, the windows of the house and flower pots were also broken. There was a seven to eight foot crater where the hand grenade fell. The police have also announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for the informer.
From NIA to IB are investigating
Apart from Chandigarh Police, NIA, AGTF Punjab Intelligence, Delhi Crime Branch and IB are investigating the case. The house belongs to Gurkeerat Chahal, a retired police officer from Punjab, who has been targeted by Khalistani militants since the outbreak of terrorism in Punjab. According to the information, the attackers suspected that Gurkeerat Chahal was in his house. However, Gurkirat has moved abroad with his family many years ago.
Gurkirat targeting Khalistani terrorists
According to sources, Gurkeerat Chahal is being targeted by Khalistan militants as he has done a lot of work during the period of militancy in Punjab.
