Delhi Water Minister Atishi
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and cabinet minister Atishi wrote to Delhi LG VK Saxena regarding reinstatement of bus marshals. In his letter, Atishi spoke about the importance of restoring the bus marshal. He said that Bus Marshal Yojana has provided safety to women and children in Delhi buses for 8 years.
In his letter, Atishi also said that the sudden stoppage of marshals’ pay and termination of duty has not only deprived them of their livelihood, but also affected the safety of passengers.

Delhi minister Atishi said the Aam Aadmi Party had launched a plan in 2015 to install marshals in the capital’s buses, with the aim of ensuring the safety of women and children. He further said that for the last 8 years these bus marshals are performing their duty with full responsibility. Atishi said, the pink bus ticket scheme has increased the number of women in Delhi’s buses, which has also increased the need for bus marshals.
Explained the importance of bus marshals
Atishi expressed concern that now the salary of the bus marshal has been stopped. He is not being called to duty. He said that we were told the reason that CCTV cameras and alarm buttons have also been installed in the bus for the safety of women.
Atishi said the weaponry that bus marshals carry on buses cannot be compared to CCTV and alarms. He said that the safety of women has been the most important issue for the Kejriwal government. Atishi also appealed for the reinstatement of the bus marshal. He said that this matter should be looked into seriously.
