A youth, who was injured following the commotion during the Moharram procession in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district, died during treatment at a medical college on Monday. The name of the youth was Tejpal (24). Tejpal was a resident of Gauspur village in Shahi Police Station area. On July 19, there was chaos during the Muharram procession in Gauspur village. Tejpal was beaten with sticks by the anarchist elements, which left him seriously injured. Not only this, miscreants vandalized other houses as well. Police have taken bulldozer action in this matter. Just today, a bulldozer ran over eight houses in Gauspur village.

The deceased Tejpal, a resident of Gauspur village in Shahi police station area, was the son of Hiralal, the former headman of the village. Informing about the incident, deceased Tejpal’s father Hiralal said that on July 19, the Muharram procession was being taken out through a new route, against which we protested. We informed the police administration. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot. Talked to these people, but they were not persuaded and sat there all night, insisting on going the same way. Police also returned after persuasion. Then these people took out a procession from the same route.

Anarchist elements attacked

Hiralal, the former head of the village, said that the next day these people returned from the Muharram procession and attacked our house. Hiralal alleged that the anarchists had illegal arms, swords etc. They started firing from the spot, causing people to hide in their houses for their lives. Hiralal alleged that unruly elements attacked his house first. The house was robbed. The son took Tejpal and killed him.

The procession was stopped from the new route

Hiralal, a former head of the village, said that the Muharram procession in Gauspur village was deliberately taken out through a new route instead of taking the traditional route. When we protested, they started beating us. The police also asked tajiya holders not to take tajiya from the new route. As soon as they heard the police, they created a ruckus. Hiralal, a former head of the village, said it was lucky that the police arrived in time after the commotion, otherwise something untoward could have happened in the village.

The father of the deceased youth lodged a complaint

Briefing about the matter, SP South Manush Parekh said that after a dispute at a Moharram procession on July 19, stone pelting and beating took place the next day, in which a youth, Tejpal, was seriously injured, who was admitted to a medical college. . He died on Monday. SP South said that a case has been registered against 50 named and 10-15 unknown persons on behalf of the deceased’s father, former head of the village Hiralal. Police also registered another case against 80 people.

Bulldozer hit 8 houses in Gauspur village

SP South Manush Parek said that so far two accused have been shot and arrested during the encounter in this case. A total of 35 accused have been arrested. Action will also be taken against the accused by NSA. SP South said that the illegal properties of the accused have been identified and cross-marked. On Monday too, bulldozers were used on eight houses. Similar action will be taken by identifying the properties of other accused.
