A case that shames humanity has come to light in Betul of Madhya Pradesh. It is alleged that the daughter-in-law and son imprisoned the elderly mother-in-law by building a wall in front of their room. When the elderly couple shared their video on social media, the police swung into action. On the instructions of the collector, the police have registered a case in this matter.

An elderly couple lives in a house in Betul’s Civil Lines area. The elderly couple is identified as Mahadev Bhargava, who is said to be 73 years old. He was ill for a long time. His wife Lata Bhargava has leveled serious allegations against his son and daughter-in-law. According to the mother-in-law, the daughter-in-law runs a children’s school and the son is posted in the merchant navy. Daughter-in-law and son imprison him by building a wall outside the room.

A case was registered against son and daughter-in-law

The elderly mother-in-law made a video of this, and when it went viral on social media, the authorities swung into action. Collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi and CMO reached the old couple’s house. When police from Ganj police station also reached the spot, ailing Mahadev Bhargava and Lata Bhargava were present in the room. Collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi has ordered to remove the wall, treat the sick elderly and register a case against the culprits. Based on the mother’s complaint, a case has been registered against the son and daughter-in-law. The police have registered a case under sections 342, 506, 294, 34 against Prachi Bhargava and Jitin Bhargava.

What did Collector Narendra Suryavanshi say?

Collector Narendra Suryavanshi says that a complaint was received from Prachi Bhargava of Tagore Ward that her mother-in-law and father-in-law have been imprisoned in the room. A wall is built around the room. Due to which they are finding it difficult to come out. They reached the spot and inspected and instructed to remove the wall. An elderly couple does not get the atmosphere it deserves at home. In this regard, the police have been instructed to take action against the accused.

Jitin Bhargava, son of the elderly couple, says that we bought the entire house from our parents in 2017 for Rs 30 lakh. Now we want to sell one of its plots. A wall has been built for security reasons. Our parents evicted us from the property in 2012. There is no question of taking them hostage. There is a way out of the room. We built a wall a month and a half ago, against which the mother has filed a case in the SDM court.
