Jamuna Giri
Thousands of freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. One of them was Jamuna Giri, a resident of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, who blew up a British airport at the age of 14. However, the British caught him and produced him before a magistrate, who said that if you apologize, you will be released. But Jamuna Giri did not accept any condition, he was not ready to apologise. As a result, the magistrate sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment.
Among the lovers of freedom, 14-year-old Jamuna Giri, a resident of Sherpur Kala, is named by people with great respect and honor. He formed a team of his school friends and defeated the British. During the Quit British India Movement, Jamuna Giri along with his comrades burnt the Gauspur Airport on 14 August 1942. At this age he was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Jamuna Giri was greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi
Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, lakhs of youths carried out a movement against the British. Jamuna Giri was also greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. At the age of 14, Jamuna Giri joined the freedom movement. On August 11, 1942, hundreds of students from several schools, including City High School, DAV School, Victoria Government School located at the district headquarters, gathered and started a campaign against the British with Bharat Mata Ke Jai.
The next day, on August 12, students in all three schools went on strike. On August 13 and August 14, a strategy was made to set fire to Gauspur Airport. Meanwhile, houses of British soldiers were set on fire. The British soldier then opened fire on the freedom fighters. Jamuna Giri was rendered unconscious by the bullet. His other colleague Ram Vishun Rai was also injured.
Not ready to ask
The next day, Jamuna Giri was produced before British magistrate Munro. The magistrate said that if you apologise, you will be released. But Jamuna Giri, a passionate freedom fighter, did not accept any conditions and was not ready to apologise. Jamuna Giri, son of Bharat Mata, was sentenced to 5 years rigorous imprisonment and sent to the district jail. Later he was sent to Sitapur Jail. After serving 5 years in jail, Jamuna Giri got a job as a sub-inspector in the police department. He breathed his last on 6 June 1969.
