The Bihar High Court has given a big blow to the state government. The Patna High Court has accepted petitions challenging the 65 per cent reservation for SC, ST, OBC and Other Backward Classes in state government educational institutions and government jobs and quashed the state government’s law.

Nitish Kumar’s grand coalition government had reduced the reservation for SCs, STs, OBCs and backward classes to 65 percent. Which has been canceled by the High Court. That means now people will not get 65 percent caste based reservation.

The court announced its decision

Several other petitioners, including Gaurav Kumar, had filed a petition on the reservation issue, on which the decision was reserved after a hearing on March 11. Today, the division bench of Chief Justice KV Chandran conducted a lengthy hearing on Gaurav Kumar and other petitions. After which the decision of the court has come out and the court has canceled 65 percent reservation.
