The government has given a big relief to the small depositors of Sahara Group cooperative societies. The government has now increased the amount given to these investors. Earlier, this limit was Rs 10,000. Which has been increased 5 times to Rs 50 lakh. In such a situation, those who have invested money in the schemes of Sahara Group will definitely get relief. So far, the government has released Rs 370 crore to more than 4.29 lakh depositors of Sahara Group cooperative societies through Sahara Refund Portal CRCS (Central Registry of Cooperative Societies).

The limit has been increased to 50 thousand rupees.

A senior official in the Ministry of Cooperation said on Wednesday that with the increase in the limit of the refund amount to Rs 50,000, around Rs 1 billion will be paid in the next 10 days. He said that last week the limit of the refund amount for small depositors was increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. The government is carefully examining the claims of depositors before issuing refunds. So that no one can get the wrong money. The CRCS-Sahara refund portal was launched on July 18, 2023, following the Supreme Court order, to lodge requests for refund of valid deposits from genuine depositors of four multi-state cooperative societies of the Sahara Group.

If we talk about cooperative societies, these include Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Lucknow, Saharan Universal MultiPurpose Society Ltd., Bhopal, Hamara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd., Kolkata and Stars MultiPurpose Cooperative Society Ltd., Hyderabad. As per the court order dated March 29, 2023, an amount of Rs 5,000 crore was transferred from the refund account of SEBI-Sahara to the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) on May 19, 2023.
