High court notice to state government in Abhishek Ghosalkar murder case

The case of planned murder of former Shiv Sena councilor Abhishek Ghosalkar was heard in the Bombay High Court before a bench of Justice Revati Dere and Justice Shyam Chandak. Taking the matter seriously, the bench made it clear that it will itself investigate the charge sheet, call detail records of the accused, CCTV footage. The High Court has issued a notice to the state government regarding the matter. In this case, an order has been given to submit the CDR and CCTV footage from the pen drive to the court within two days.

What is the argument in the court?

During the hearing in the Bombay High Court today, advocate Bhushan Mahadik argued on behalf of Tejaswi Ghosalkar. “Abhishek Ghosalkar was called by Maurice Noronha to his office. There Abhishek was shot while doing Facebook Live. The police say that Morris shot Abhishek and then killed himself. But it is not only Morris who is behind this, but it is also a pre-planned conspiracy,” argued Tejaswi Ghosalkar’s lawyer.

“Mehul Parekh was outside Morris’ office when the shootout took place. This has been made clear by the CCTV footage. Mehul was a close associate of Morris. Why did the police not arrest him when he was one of the masterminds? There is political pressure on the investigation,” argued Bhushan Mahadik, lawyer for Tejaswi Ghosalkar.

What exactly is claimed in the petition?

The petition alleges that the investigation into Abhishek Ghosalkar’s murder is not going in the right direction. There is a lot of pressure on the police and the police is supporting the masterminds of Abhishek’s murder. The police system has failed to investigate. Therefore, the investigation of the case should be directed to be handed over to the CBI or Special Investigation Team (SIT), Abhishek’s wife former corporator Tejaswi Ghosalkar has demanded through a criminal writ petition.
