Big focus on development in Madhya Pradesh, budget 2024-25 presented in assembly, size of budget doubled

Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Jagdish Deora today presented the budget for the year 2024-25 in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. It is named People’s Budget for the People. This budget has made many proposals for the development of the state for the next five years. For this the size of the budget has been doubled. Along with this, investment in capital investment, expansion of roads, irrigation and electricity facilities, quality health facilities and employment generation has been given a special place.

Following are the main points of the Budget 2024-25:-

  • A total investment of Rs. 3,65,067 crore, which is 16% more than last year.
  • Revenue surplus in Budget 2024-25 Rs. 1,700 crore is estimated.
  • An estimated revenue of Rs. 2,63,344 crores, of which the State’s own tax amount is Rs. 1,02,097 crore, the state’s share in central taxes is Rs. 95,753 crore, non-tax income of Rs. 20,603 crore and includes grant-in aid. Center Rs. 44,891 crore.
  • The state’s own tax revenue is projected to increase by 18% in 2024-25 as compared to the budget estimates for 2023-24.
  • Capital expenditure is projected to increase by approximately 15% in 2024-25 compared to the budget estimate for 2023-24.
  • 40,804 crore (23.4%) for Scheduled Tribes (Sub-Schemes).
  • 27,900 crore (16%) Scheduled Caste (Sub-Scheme).
  • Capital expenditure is estimated to be 4.25% of the state’s GDP in the year 2024-25.
  • Interest payments in the year 2024-25 will be 10.40% of gross revenue income.
  • The fiscal deficit is estimated at 4.11% of the state’s gross domestic product.

  • As per 15th Finance Commission recommendation for grant to local bodies Rs. 5965 crore provision.

  • By MPVM 5 HP agricultural pump/thresher and one light connection to compensate for free electricity supply Rs. 4775 crore provision.

  • For National Health Mission (NUHM/NRHM) Rs. 4500 crore provision.
  • Provision of Rs 4000 crore for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

  • A provision of `2860 crore for dams and allied works.
  • Provision of Rs 2452 crore for medical college and affiliated hospital.
