It is being said that Congress may return to power in Haryana this time. However, BJP is also making all efforts to stay in power. Before the assembly elections, a Kisan Mahapanchayat was held in Uchana, Jind, Haryana, in which the farmer leaders decided that the farmers would neither support nor oppose any party in the Haryana assembly elections. This Mahapanchayat was organized by Bharatiya Kisan Naujwan Union. A large number of farmers from Haryana to Punjab participated in this Mahapanchayat.

Many farmer leaders including Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Shravan Singh Pandher and Abhimanyu Kohad participated in this Mahapanchayat. Jagjit Singh Dallewal gave full information about the decision taken in the Maha Panchayat and said that we are not doing anything in the elections. We have nothing to do with elections. Our aim is to strengthen the movement. We will neither help anyone nor oppose anyone in the elections. To strengthen our movement we will make people aware of the government’s failures and decisions taken against farmers.

When will the next Maha Panchayat be held?

With this, he further said, ‘The next Mahapanchayat will be held on September 22 in Pipli, Kurukshetra. The demands we are agitating for are not only those of the farmers of Punjab and Haryana but of the entire country. Mahapanchayats are being held in every corner of the country to connect the entire country with this movement. The way the government stopped the farmers from coming to the Kisan Mahapanchayat. Which is very shameful and reprehensible. Cement barriers were erected at many places to prevent farmers from gathering. He alleged that the gurudwara administrators were also asked not to cook food for him.

Assembly elections are going to be held in Haryana on October 4. Meanwhile, such a statement has come out from the farmer leaders. Now it remains to be seen whether the farmer leaders will actually support a party or oppose the other.
