Bengal: Kanchenjunga Express collides with freight train, 3 coaches derail, bogie suspended in air, many injured

A major train accident has occurred in West Bengal’s Darjeeling this morning. Here, the goods train hit the Kanchenjunga Express train standing near Rangpani station from behind. The impact was so strong that three rear bogies of the Kanchenjunga Express train were badly damaged. There is news that some passengers were injured in this accident. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the rescue team immediately reached the spot. Rescue work is in progress.

On this tragedy, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote on social media platform X, ‘There was information about a tragic train accident from Phansidewa in Darjeeling district. I am shocked. Although full details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express is reported to have collided with a goods train. A team has been dispatched to the spot for rescue and medical assistance. Rescue work is going on war footing.

All three rear bogies of the Kanchenjunga Express train have been badly damaged in the accident. One bogie came over another bogie and hung in the air.
