Mayank Yadav came into the limelight in the IPL for his pace and precise line-length. He got injured in the fourth match and was ruled out of the entire tournament. It’s been 4 months since then and he hasn’t played any cricket. The BCCI has included him in the 15-man squad for the T20 series between India and Bangladesh from October 6. Mayank Yadav is back in the limelight after being selected in Team India for the first time. Because fans were eagerly waiting for his debut. But do you know who is behind his entry in Team India? That person is none other than India’s legendary cricketer and current head of the National Cricket Academy, VVS Laxman.
A special order was placed for Mayank
Mayank Yadav, who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket, made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants last season. He played only 4 matches but during that time he made fans and cricket experts go crazy with his bowling. Everyone was amazed to see him consistently bowl the ball at a speed of 150 on a certain line-length. Even VVS Laxman was not immune to this. So, as soon as Mayank Yadav got injured, the BCCI took charge of his care and sent him to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.
Mayank Yadav’s coach Devendra Sharma has now made a big revelation in an interview given to Indian Express. He said that Laxman himself took an interest in his recovery. He also gave special orders to the NCA staff for rehab and bowling drills. Laxman stressed on Mayank to stay fit for a long time. He asked him to focus on strength first and then made him practice bowling. The NCA chief did not rush to introduce Mayank and prepared him through a slow process, so that he could play for the Indian team for a long time.
Will Mayank travel to Australia?
Coach Devendra Sharma has also revealed that Mayank is currently bowling 15 overs every day. BCCI does not want to take any risk. So, he will first test his mettle by playing them in the smaller formats and if everything goes well, he will gradually take them to the bigger formats. So he has been given a chance in the T20 series against Bangladesh. Although there is little hope of him going on the Australia tour, he may be seen touring with the Indian team during the New Zealand Test series.
