Nowadays, there is a huge increase in the demand for air conditioning in India. The increasing heat in different cities and towns of the country, including Delhi, has forced people to think about buying air conditioners. People are buying too. Tata Group’s Voltas, in its recent annual report, has said that there will be record growth in air conditioner sales in the coming years.

For this reason, air conditioning sales increased.

The company has said that due to the presence of domestic and foreign companies, competition has intensified in India’s domestic air conditioning market. Behind this, rising heating, slight rise in income and EMI option readily available to customers have acted as a booster dose on AC sales. The company believes that now the desire for a better lifestyle has increased in both cities and rural areas, so people are increasingly interested in purchasing air conditioning. Voltas has said India’s domestic air conditioning market is likely to grow at an annual rate of 12 per cent to reach Rs 50,000 crore by 2028-29.

Voltas made air conditioning sales record

Voltas sold more than 20 lakh air conditioners in 2023-24. According to the company, this was the most air conditioners sold by any brand in one year. The company said that Voltas sold 10 lakh air conditioners in a period of just 110 days from January 1, 2024 to April 20, 2024. In this session, air conditioner sales of many companies have more than doubled in April and May. There has been a tremendous increase in sales during the scorching heat when the mercury reaches around 45 degrees.

In addition to domestic air conditioning, competition will also increase in commercial air conditioning (CAC). Now foreign companies have started to focus on this sector. Previously, the Consumer Electronics and Equipment Manufacturers Association had said it expects record domestic air conditioning sales this year, putting annual sales around 14 million units in 2024.
