Police officials raided Narhi Police Station in Ballia.

Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh was in discussion today. The reason was that two senior police officers had raided the Bharoli police check post. Meanwhile, 18 people, including two policemen, were taken into custody, while cash worth Rs 37,500 was recovered from the check post. Not only this, nine policemen including the in-charge of the check post which came under Narhi police station were also suspended. At the same time, all the policemen posted there, including the in-charge of Korantadih police post, were also suspended. However, the question arises in the midst of all this, why was this raid carried out?

Bharoli Police Checkpost under Narhi Police Station area is built on the Ganga river bridge. Bihar’s border starts across the river Ganga. It is alleged that liquor, red sand, soil and animals are smuggled on a large scale from here. Along with Narhi police station, the policemen posted at the nearby police post and Bharoli police check post are also involved in this smuggling. For the past few days, police officials were receiving complaints that huge extortion was being done in the name of smuggling at the Bharoli police check post.

ADG-DIG conducted raids

Based on the complaint, DGI Azamgarh Vaibhav Krishna and ADG Varanasi Zone Piyush Mordia reached the Bharauli check post under Narhi police station area in plain dress on Wednesday-Thursday midnight. On seeing the vehicles of the police officers, chaos broke out at the scene. Three policemen stationed at the check post escaped while two were nabbed by DIG Vaibhav Krishna’s team. At the same time, 16 people present at the check post were also taken into custody. 37,500 in cash was also recovered.

Recovery was underway at the police station

After this, when the two police officers along with the team reached Korantadih police station, recovery was being done there as well. The police officers were also shocked to see this, as the complaint they received was proving to be true. As the police officers became suspicious, they also reached the Narhi police station. Extortion was going on in the police station. A ruckus broke out in the police station on seeing the police officers. All the jawans including the head of the police station were shocked. The head of the police station escaped by jumping over the wall.

Narhi police station chief Panne Lal has been suspended

DIG Vaibhav Krishna, who came out of Narhi police station after hours of investigation, said that all the policemen posted there, including Panne Lal, the in-charge of Narhi police station, along with the in-charge of Korantadih police station of the police station, have been suspended. Police have also seized Rs 37,500 in cash and 14 bikes. DIG Vaibhav Krishna said that two policemen and 16 brokers have been arrested. They were cooperating with the police in the recovery. Three policemen are absconding. A case is also being filed against all. The SP of Azamgarh has been entrusted with the investigation.

1.5 crore earnings per month

According to the information, 1000 trucks used to pass through here every day. 500 was charged from each truck. In such a situation, five lakh rupees were being collected daily. 1.5 crore was earned every month. The biggest question is where such a huge amount of money eventually went. Was he not aware of what SP Ballia was doing? Due to which officers had to come from Azamgarh and Varanasi. Questions are being raised on the working style of SP Ballia. How long this collection was going on, who was the SP, the inspector alone was collecting Rs 1.5 crore per month or some part of that amount was being collected. These are questions that are yet to be answered.

The room of the police station in-charge was sealed

DIG Vaibhav Krishna said that the room of Narhi police station in-charge has also been sealed and the boxes of policemen have been searched. The DIG said that recovery was being done for some time from trucks coming towards Bharauli Tiraha on the UP-Bihar border in Narhi police station area. Reiki was done first when we got information about this. After this the plan was made and the raid was carried out. Here a large number of people used to broker on behalf of the police. These people have been arrested. Two policemen have been arrested from the spot.

Ballia SP was not informed about the raid

Both the officers kept the raid so confidential that they did not even inform SP Ballia about it. During this raid, an extortion scheme was caught at Bharauli check post. There was no one at the post, but the outpost in-charge Narhi was seen giving an account of the recovery in front of the police station in-charge. As soon as the policemen came to know that the team of DIG and ADG had raided, all the policemen started running away from the police station. If sources are to be believed, the in-charge of Narhi police station escaped by jumping the seven feet high boundary wall of the police station.
