Avatar 3 Name Announced
The third installment of the world’s highest-grossing film Avatar has been announced. Directed by James Cameron and starring Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, the film is titled ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’. The director and the lead cast of the film attended the D23 Expo and announced the release date and title of the film there.
The makers revealed at the expo that the film will release on 19 December 2025. Apart from this, the name of the film and its release date were also announced from Avatar’s official X (earlier Twitter) handle. But the makers have not shown any glimpse of the film to the fans yet. Avatar’s official X account wrote, “The title of the next Avatar movie has just been announced at D23. Avatar: Fire and Ash. Get ready to embark on a journey to Pandora. Hitting theaters on December 19, 2025.”

James Cameron promised this
At the expo, James Cameron promised that the third installment of Avatar will have everything that has not been seen in the franchise till date. “You get to see more of Pandora in this film than you’ve seen before,” he said. He said it will be a crazy adventure that will give your eyes a treat. He also said that this time the film will have a lot of emotional stuff. He said that we are going to create characters that you know and love doing very challenging things.
James Cameron has filmed Avatar: Fire and Ash back-to-back with the 2022 film Avatar: The Way of Water. Many new characters are also going to enter in the film. James Cameron said, “There will be a lot of new characters, especially one character that you either fall in love with or you love to hate.” Game of Thrones actor Una Chaplin will be seen in this film. He will be seen in the character of Warang, the leader of Ash people. Apart from this, David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh will also be seen in the film.
World’s highest grossing film
Avatar is the highest grossing film franchise in the world. The first part of Avatar became the highest grosser in the world. This was followed by the second installment Avatar The Way of Water, which is the third highest grossing film in the world. Avatar, released in 2009, earned more than 24 thousand crore rupees at the box office. After this, Avatar 2, released in 2022, did more than 19 thousand crore rupees at the box office.
Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash are written by James Cameron with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Actually, initially it will be just one film. But while writing the film, Cameron felt that there was too much in the film so he split it into two parts.
