The Afghanistan cricket team has created history in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. Afghanistan has won against Australia for the first time. Both the teams were face to face in the Super 8 round. It was a do or die match for Afghanistan. Afghanistan scored 148 runs in this match. Then Australia was all out for 127 runs in 19.2 overs. “We probably need 20 more runs to win. Many teams have bowled before in this tournament. It is not that we have won or lost the toss. We did not perform well. The pitch was not easy, but both teams played well on this pitch. Today we lost. Marsh said, we just need to win and there is no better team than this for this.

Australia won the toss and forced Afghanistan to bat. Afghanistan scored 148 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. For Afghanistan, the opening pair of Gurbaz and Zadran made a century partnership of 118 runs. Gurbaz scored 60 runs in 49 balls. Zadran scored 51 runs in 48 balls. But after this opening pair, the rest of the batsmen could not take advantage of the good start. Pat Cummins took his second consecutive hat-trick and prevented the Afghanistan batsmen from scoring big. For Afghanistan, Karim Janat scored 13 and Mohammad Nabi scored 10 runs. Apart from this, other batsmen could not reach double figures. For Australia, Pat Cummins took 3 wickets and Adam Zampa took 2 wickets. While Marcus Stoinis took 1 wicket.

Captain Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis scored 12 and 11 runs respectively. Aggressive opener Travis Head got out as soon as he came. Others could not even reach double figures. Gulbadin Naib took the maximum 4 wickets for Afghanistan. Naveen Ul Haq showed a trio outside the field. Azmatullah Umarzai, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan took 1-1 wickets.
