‘Aunty, I can’t sleep…’ Seeing Amitabh Bachchan’s condition in the hospital, Indira Gandhi started crying

Many of his fans call Amitabh Bachchan a megastar. Amitabh Bachchan was born on 11 October 1942 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. But did you know that Amitabh celebrates two birthdays, the first on the day he came into the world and the second to celebrate his survival after a fatal accident in 1980. Amitabh Bachchan was injured on the sets of the film Coolie, after which he was admitted to the ICU for several days and the entire country wished him well. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi went to meet him.

Amitabh Bachchan’s father-in-law Tarun Kumar Bhaduri stated in an article for the Illustrated Weekly of India that his condition was very fragile during this period. Machines, glucose, drip were installed. The injury was so severe that the eyes drooped. Tarun has written in the article that both Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi came to meet Amitabh. Amitabh told her that aunty, it hurts a lot. I can’t even sleep and hearing this Indira Gandhi started crying. After this, Rajiv Gandhi took over.

Tarun wrote that after listening to Amitabh, Indira told him, “No problem son, sometimes even I don’t sleep, but when I do, I get a lot of relief, you too will sleep soon, then there will be no pain. ” Saying this, Indira Gandhi came out of the ward and asked for water to drink. Tarun said in the article that Amitabh came home after being discharged from the hospital on August 2, 1982, after which he slowly began to recover. Amitabh thanked the entire country. He Called Doordarshan for an interview and said that he got a new life because of the prayers of the countrymen, he will always remember this day.

A miracle of doctors

Tarun wrote, People all over the country were praying for Amitabh’s recovery. This was something unexpected – the whole nation was praying for a man and so it happened, Amitabh was spared. My wife and millions of others said it was ‘by the grace of God’. I do not agree with this. I told my wife and Jaya that if Amit had not survived, everyone would have blamed the doctors. Why didn’t they praise the doctors now that they were saved? He had no answer. They thought it was a miracle of God. I don’t think so. This was the miracle of Kandy Hospital doctors.

Coolie movie was directed by Manmohan Desai. This movie was released in 1983. In this film, Amitabh was injured so badly that it became difficult for him to survive.
