Delhi has got its next Chief Minister. After much speculation, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday proposed Atishi’s name as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. On Kejriwal’s proposal, all MLAs stood up and accepted the proposal. Atishi has been elected as the leader of the AAP Delhi Legislative Party.
Kejriwal shocked everyone by announcing his resignation while addressing Aam Aadmi Party workers on Sunday. He said that he will resign from the post of Chief Minister after 2 days. He also said that not only him but also Manish Sisodia will not become the Chief Minister. After this, there began a period of speculation regarding the new Chief Minister of Delhi.
Earlier, amid the possibility of Kejriwal resigning on Tuesday, a meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party’s legislative party was called at 11.30 am, in which the name of the new chief minister was discussed. Today Kejriwal will meet Lt Governor VK Saxena at 4.30 pm and during this he is likely to resign.
According to information provided by AAP, the session of Delhi Assembly will be convened on September 26-27 next week. Earlier, an official associated with the party said, “The name of the new chief minister will be announced today at 12 noon after the meeting of the party’s legislative body.”
Arvind Kejriwal announced his decision to resign from the post of CM 2 days ago on Sunday, saying that he will now sit on the CM’s chair only when the people give him a certificate of sincerity.
