Another member of the Thackeray family may enter electoral politics
Another member of the Thackeray family may enter electoral politics in the Maharashtra assembly elections. A meeting of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leaders was held in Rajgarh today. According to sources, in the same meeting many MNS leaders demanded Raj Thackeray’s son Amit Thackeray to contest the elections. Amit Thackeray is also believed to have agreed considering the demands of party leaders, but the final decision has been left to party chief Raj Thackeray.
Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya was the first to enter electoral politics and was elected as an MLA from the Worli seat. Although Uddhav Thackeray himself has been the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, he has never contested an election, being a member of the Legislative Council.
The party leaders demanded to contest from one of these seats
Party leaders and workers in the meeting said that they demanded Amit Thackeray to contest from Mahim, Bhandup or Magathane assembly seats in Mumbai. On that Amit said that I am ready to contest from any constituency. Now Raj Thackeray will take the final decision about Amit Thackeray contesting elections. MNS will contest elections on its own strength in Maharashtra and Mumbai.
So far only Aditya Thackeray has contested the elections
Several members of the Thackeray family are now active in politics, but so far only Aditya Thackeray has contested elections directly. He was elected from Worli constituency in 2019 assembly elections. After this he remained a minister for two and a half years. After him, Amit Thackeray is also ready to contest assembly elections. Which constituency will Amit Thackeray choose? No decision has been taken on this yet. He has shown his readiness to contest from any constituency.
MNS has announced candidates on three seats
MNS leader Raj Thackeray has announced three candidates so far. Including Bala Nandgaonkar (Shivadi), Dilip Dhotre (Pandharpur), Raju Umbarkar (Latur Rural-Vidarbha). Raj Thackeray has announced that he will contest from 200 to 225 seats. Which other leaders from MNS will contest the elections will also be clear in the coming days. The MNS meeting will be held once again on Sunday, in which the leaders will contest the elections.
