Dehradun Boarding School Case.
A case of alleged ragging and sexual harassment by senior students of an eighth-grade girl student at a prestigious boarding school in Dehradun has come to light. Police said here that the parents of the victim student have taken him to their home in Assam and have lodged an FIR there regarding the incident.
The Assam Police forwarded the FIR to the Dehradun Police for action, after which the incident came to light. The FIR states that the student’s parents had informed the school management about the incident but as no action was taken in the matter, they took their child home with them.
A case has been filed against the accused students
Dalanwala Police Station in Dehradun has registered a case against the accused students and started investigation. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
School administrators did not take action
It is alleged that the eighth grader dropped out of school due to ragging. It is also alleged that despite the complaint, the school management did not take action against the accused senior students, after which the aggrieved student was picked up by his family members and a case was filed in Assam.
A team has been formed to investigate the case
After this Assam Police registered a case under Sections of Assault and Pox and transferred the case to Dehradun. Meanwhile, Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that a team under the direction of CO Dalanwala has been formed and investigation into the case has started.
