CM Shinde had launched the poster of the movie Dharamveer-2 before the elections.

Political activities are on the rise in Maharashtra ahead of the assembly elections. All the parties are busy strengthening the election preparations at their respective levels. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena party, which is part of the ruling NDA coalition in the state, is trying to secure a big victory in the upcoming elections. The poster of Dharamveer-2 has been launched shortly before the elections. Shinde wants to maintain his grip on people through the film.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday released the poster of the Marathi film Dharamveer-2, a sequel to the biopic on his political mentor and Shiv Sena stalwart late Anand Dighe. The first part of the film was released almost 2 years ago in the year 2022.

‘Dharamveer’ was released before the riots

The film was released before Eknath Shinde’s rebellion from the Shiv Sena. In mid-2022, Shinde rebelled against the party led by Uddhav Thackeray along with his supporting MLAs. This led to political uncertainty in Maharashtra for several days and then the Maha Vikas Aghadi government fell in June.

Anand Dighe has now become an icon of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and is recognized as one of the key leaders along with party founder Bal Thackeray.

Dharamveer-2 will release before the elections

The film Dharamveer-2 is ready for release. The film is releasing on August 9, two months before the assembly elections to be held in the state. The film also has a character based on CM Shinde. During the poster release, CM Shinde said, “Dighe Sahib will be immortalized through the film and people will be inspired by him.”

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that he is trying to follow in the footsteps of his guru. The first part of the film was released in the year 2022. Written and directed by Praveen Tarde, the film stars Prasad Oak, Kshitij Date, Makarand Padhya, Snehal Tarde and Shruti Marathe in lead roles.

Who is Anand Dighe?

Born on 27 January 1951 in Colaba, Anand Dighe is a big name in Maharashtra politics and is also known as Dharamveer. He was very popular in his area. Dighe was a senior Shiv Sena leader and Thane district unit chief. He was made District President of Thane in 1984. He used to organize durbars at his house every day in which he used to defuse tensions or disputes between Shiv Sena workers and common people.

Anand Dighe used to attend every meeting of Balasaheb Thackeray in Thane. Then gradually he entered politics. He started the annual Navratri festival and organized the first Dahi Handi in Thane. He groomed and mentored many young politicians of Thane region like Eknath Shinde, Ravindra Phatak and Rajan Vikhe. Shinde later became the Chief Minister of the state on June 30, 2022.

Anand Dighe was seriously injured in a road accident in August 2001, and was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Thane, but died there of heart failure on 26 August.

Poor performance of Shiv Sena in Lok Sabha

Shiv Sena wants to perform better in assembly elections. Shiv Sena did not perform well in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. In the NDA alliance, the Shiv Sena fielded its candidates on 15 seats but managed to win only 7 seats.

While Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray contested the elections under India Alliance and fielded its candidates on 21 seats while winning 9 seats. In such a scenario, it will be interesting to see who gets the biggest win between the two factions of Shiv Sena in the assembly elections.
