Five people, including an Indian Army officer, were martyred in an encounter between security forces and militants in Doda district of Jammu division. Expressing displeasure over the martyrdom of the soldiers, the PDP chief lashed out at the government.
He said that if the government says that terrorism is ending, then what is happening in Jammu, why so many people are being killed. He asked who is responsible for this. Mehbooba Mufti said that Home Minister and Defense Minister should take note of this. Targeting Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain, Mufti said that since the arrival of the DG, maximum number of soldiers have been martyred in the last 32 months. He questioned whether it was the responsibility of any regional party to stop the infiltration. He said Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are still being accused, is this their responsibility?

‘At least 50 jawans martyred in 32 months’
He further said that direct rule of BJP is going on here. In such a situation, what has the party achieved here in the last six years? Mufti said that the army has held Jammu and Kashmir together for the last 70 years, has kept them connected to the country, but has rejected them. He said that at least 50 jawans have been martyred in the last 32 months and no one is responsible for it.
‘DG is busy with political work’
He further said that the current DG is currently engaged in political work on how to break the PDP. How to harass people, how to threaten them, how to harass journalists and how to impose UAPA as much as possible and how to conduct raids here, all these things DG is doing. Mufti said that traders here are crying because of the I&IT raid.

‘Work is being done only on communal basis’
The PDP chief said that even the clerics were not spared and were being blackmailed. They are being threatened with imprisonment if they do not act as per their instructions. Mufti said that fixer is not needed here, DGP is needed. He said that there have been DGs here before who have done a very good job. He said that till date no DG has worked here on communal lines, but today work is being done here only on communal lines. Mufti clearly said that Jammu-Kashmir has not run like this and will not run like this.
DG’s big charge on regional parties
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police RR Swain on Monday leveled serious allegations against the regional parties. Regarding the recent increase in terrorist attacks, he said that it was because of these regional parties that Pakistani terrorists were able to infiltrate into Kashmir. He said political parties groomed terrorist leaders so that they could perform better in elections.
