Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has changed his stance on his rebel MLAs. These MLAs did cross voting during Rajya Sabha elections. Some MLAs voted in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while some did not even turn up to vote. In such a situation, the Samajwadi Party candidate had to face defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections and the BJP candidate Sanjay Seth won the election.

Akhilesh Yadav, upset with the attitude of his MLAs, said then that the public will hold these MLAs accountable. Regarding the rebel MLAs of the party, he said that he would not take the initiative to cancel their membership. But now he has changed his mind.

The idea changed after the Lok Sabha elections

A resounding success in the Lok Sabha elections in early June has changed his mind. Currently, he is out of the country and after his return from London, he may meet Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana to confront these rebel MLAs. They want by-elections to be held on the rebel MLAs’ seats.

A leader close to him said, “Akhilesh Yadav wants all of them to lose the elections. Currently, the political situation in UP is also in favor of the Samajwadi Party. Membership of 7 Samajwadi Party MLAs will be rejected. A petition will be filed before the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly soon. If these MLAs lose their seats, by-elections will have to be held on these seats.

No decision yet regarding Pallavi Patel

The Samajwadi Party has collected all kinds of evidence, including videos and audios of its MLAs who voted for the BJP during the Rajya Sabha elections and campaigned for the BJP by appearing on the BJP platform in the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, there are seven SP MLAs (Manoj Pandey, Rakesh Singh, Abhay Singh, Rakesh Pandey, Vinod Chaturvedi, Pooja Pal, Ashutosh) whose membership can be stripped.

A decision has not yet been taken regarding Pallavi Patel. Technically, if the SP files a petition against her, Pallavi will also lose her MLA seat as she was campaigning from another party’s platform. He shared the stage with Asaduddin Owaisi many times.

Now the fate of these MLAs is in the hands of Speaker Satish Mahana. If the MLAs of all these are elected, by-elections will be held. If we look at the results of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP has faced defeat in all these areas. So BJP’s position has weakened in these areas.
