Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath
The by-election to 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh has become a prestige issue for the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party. While Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is on a constant tour to sweep all 10 seats, now SP chief Akhilesh is also busy arranging the equation of each seat.
To win all the seats in the bypolls, Akhilesh is preparing a seat-wise strategy, starting with a booth review. It is being said that the SP does not want to lose its lead in the Lok Sabha under any circumstances.
Assembly by-elections are to be held in 10 seats in UP in October-November. Of the 10 seats for which by-elections are proposed, in 2022, 5 were won by SP, 3 by BJP, one by Nishad and one by RLD.
CM Yogi’s quick visit to by-election seats
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is visiting the constituencies where by-elections are proposed. Yogi has visited Milkipur twice in the last 30 days. Similarly, Yogi has visited Ambedkar Nagar (where Katehari is sitting) three times since June.
Yogi has also visited Ghaziabad and Mirapur seats.
Yogi is visiting these meetings to get feedback on the functioning of the government and the well-being of the organization. Not only this, Yogi is also organizing a job fair to fix the equation of these seats. In the employment fair, the government is giving the appointment letter to the youth.
Akhilesh is also busy arranging the equation of each seat.
, On September 9 (Monday), Akhilesh Yadav conducted a booth-wise review of Sismau seat in Lucknow. Wife and son of former Seesamal MLA Irfan Solanki also participated in this review. Akhilesh told all the leaders in the meeting that Seesamau seat has been our stronghold and we will fight strongly here this time as well.
Irfan’s wife Naseem Solanki will contest from Sismai seat. Irfan lost his citizenship in June 2024 due to a conviction in a case. He is currently in jail and facing several serious charges.
Akhilesh wants to contest the election on emotional issues here by fielding Irfan’s wife. Sismau Assembly has about 2 lakh 75 thousand voters. It has the largest number of Muslim voters, with a population of around 1 lakh 10 thousand.
Brahmin voters are second after this. The population of Brahmins here is about 70 thousand. Dalit voters are also the X factor here. The population of this community in Sismau Assembly is around 60 thousand.
, A by-election is also to be held in Ayodhya’s Milkipur seat. Yogi’s government has made this meeting a matter of prestige. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself is the BJP in-charge of this seat. Now Akhilesh is preparing the equation to win this seat.
Akhilesh called a meeting of Ayodhya leaders to decide the candidate in late August. It is being said that in this meeting, Akhilesh spoke to all the contenders one by one. The SP supremo also convinced all the angry leaders of Ayodhya.
The most vexing news was about Anand Sen, but after meeting Akhilesh, he is leading the front in Milkipur as well. Akhilesh, who was recently on the backfoot due to the Ayodhya rape incident, held a press conference on Thursday regarding the land scam.
It is being said that this press conference was held only to push the BJP on the backfoot on the Ayodhya issue. Because, when SP’s Pawan Pandey raised the issue in 2021, Akhilesh kept a distance.
, Akhilesh Yadav recently held two meetings regarding the Katheri seat review. One meeting was held at the Jaineswar Mishra Trust with Katheri in-charge Shivpal Yadav while the other was held at the party office. After this meeting, Akhilesh also helped former minister Shanklal Manjhi to win Kateri.
Shankhlal Manjhi was also considered as a ticket contender from Katehri seat. Manjhi has been a minister in Akhilesh’s government. It is being said that SP will contest elections from this seat under the leadership of Lalji Verma. Any member of his family can get tickets from Katehri.
, Akhilesh Yadav is also strongly raising the issue of Mangesh Yadav, who was killed in a police encounter on robbery charges in Sultanpur. In the coming days, the SP will be aggressive on this issue from the House to the streets. Akhilesh alleged that government officials are killing people on the basis of caste.
It is being said that SP is trying to win seats in Yadavland by giving importance to this issue. Karhal, Milkipur and Katheri seats of UP are politically dominated by Yadav voters. Karahal is said to be a stronghold of the Yadavs.

Akhilesh also hinted at an alliance in the by-elections.
