In a message to the employees, he said that the airline’s domestic market share will increase from 24 per cent in FY23 to 27 per cent in FY24 on the back of the network. Due to the expansion and improvement of the service, the international market share increased from 21 per cent to 24 per cent during the same period. ,
Revenues are growing
The airline has completed two years of its ambitious five-year Vihaan.AI transformation plan. On a consolidated basis, Tata Group’s Air India posted a 25 per cent growth in operating revenue and a reduction of over 50 per cent in losses in the last financial year. Wilson said all the initiatives and programmes initiated during this period have been successful. These initial results should encourage us to think that the efforts are succeeding. Growth has been rapid in the six months since the fiscal year ended, and the strong momentum continues. According to him, the airline has added 9,000 employees, including 5,000 new crew members, in the last two years, while the average age of employees has come down from 54 years to 35 years.

The airline has also started refurbishing 67 narrow-body aircraft with new cabin and seating configurations. With three to four aircraft being modernised every month, the entire narrow-body fleet is expected to be upgraded by mid-2025. Air India has an operational fleet of 142 aircraft. It has launched 35 new routes, of which 10 are domestic and 25 international. In addition, 2 new domestic and 9 international destinations have also been launched. Tata Group acquired loss-making Air India in January 2022. To strengthen the group’s airline business, the integration of Air India Express and AIX Connect will be completed by October, while the merger of Air India and Vistara is planned for November.
