After being acquired by Tata Group, Air India is on a continuous expansion journey. Air India Express, the low-fare flight service provider of Air India, will soon start its daily flight service on 6 new routes in the domestic market. This includes flights originating from cities like Chennai, Kolkata and Jaipur.

The airline on Tuesday said its six new flight services include two from Kolkata, three from Chennai and the first direct flight on the Guwahati-Jaipur route.

These cities will be directly connected to Chennai.

With the launch of new Air India Express flights offering low fare services, Chennai will be directly connected to many cities and the company’s service network will expand. The company will start direct flights between Chennai-Bhubaneswar, Chennai-Bagdogra and Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram. Apart from this, daily flights have also been started on Kolkata-Varanasi, Kolkata-Guwahati and Guwahati-Jaipur routes.

The process of merging AirAsia India, another Tata Group airline, with Air India Express is continuing. As a result, flight service has been disrupted on many routes, which Air India Express is reducing by starting service on new routes. The schedule of the company’s new daily flights is as follows…

  • The Kolkata-Varanasi flight will depart at 7:40 am and arrive Varanasi at 9:05 am, while the return flight will depart Varanasi at 9:40 am and arrive Kolkata at 11:10 am.
  • The Kolkata-Guwahati flight will depart at 12.10 pm and land in Guwahati at 1.25 pm, while the return flight will depart from Guwahati at 1.55 pm and arrive in Kolkata at 4.35 pm daily.
  • To meet the growing demand on the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram route, which was earlier served by two weekly flights, the airline has now introduced an additional daily service, taking the total number of flights to nine per week.

Tata Group unit Air India Express operates over 380 flights daily with a fleet of 82 aircraft. These include 54 Boeing 737s and 28 Airbus A320s.
