AIMIM to contest Maharashtra assembly polls, Owaisi announces 5 candidates

All parties have started playing stakes in Maharashtra politics. Meanwhile, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen ‘AIMIM’ chief Asaduddin Owaisi announced in Maharashtra that his party will field its candidates in this election. He also announced the names of his 5 candidates. Along with this, he has also asked Ajit Pawar to oppose the amendment bill.

He said on Monday that former Lok Sabha MP from Aurangabad Imtiaz Jalil will be a candidate in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Talking to the media, Owaisi announced the names of the four candidates. It also includes MLAs Mufti Ismail, Shah Farooq Anwar, Farooq Shabadi and Rais Lashkaria.

Mufti Ismail is MLA from Malegaon seat

Mufti Ismail is currently the MLA from Malegaon Central seat, while Anwar Dhule is the MLA from the city. Militants are the leaders of AIMIM’s Mumbai unit. Imtiaz Jalil’s constituency has not been announced. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he had to face defeat from Shiv Sena’s Sandeepan Bhumre.

Ajit Pawar should support on waqf reform

Regarding the Wakf Amendment Bill, he said that Ajit Pawar’s NCP should oppose it. Owaisi said, ‘Ajit Pawar says he has joined hands with BJP, but has not given up secularism. On that, Owaisi said that if it is so, then he should oppose this bill of Narendra Modi government. The Bill gives more powers to the Collector in decisions related to waqf land. Along with this, Owaisi said that this bill will be anti-constitutional.

He said that neither Hindu Endowment Act, Gurdwara Management Committee nor any such bill for Christians was ever introduced. He also said that this bill is an attack on the fundamental rights of Indian citizens. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has appealed to people to give suggestions against the bill through a QR code. The NRC of this waqf will be proved. He also said that according to the principles of justice, no collector can consider himself a judge.
