Punjab Anti Gangster Task Force with the arrested accused
Punjab News: During a special operation being conducted by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in view of Independence Day, the police busted a major criminal gang on Wednesday. The Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ​​has arrested five people, including the main accused in the murder.
The mastermind Sunil Bhandari alias Nata, caught by the police, was wanted in the recent Ferozepur murder and other heinous crimes. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said the other four arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Bhandari, Varinder Singh, Karan and Amandeep Singh, residents of Ferozepur. Modern weapons have also been recovered from them.
All the accused have criminal records
DGP Gaurav Yadav said five modern weapons were also recovered from the arrested accused, including three Chinese pistols of Point 30 bore and two pistols of Point 32 bore with 40 cartridges. Apart from this, two vehicles of the accused have also been seized, including Mahindra XUV 700 and Innova Crysta. He said that the accused Nata was the mastermind of the day-to-day murder of Lovepreet Singh on 31 July 2024 at Ferozepur. Accused Rahul Bhandari and Varinder were also present with him in this murder.
ADGP AGTF Pramod Ban said that acting on a tip-off, AGTF teams led by DSP Vikramjit Singh Brar under the supervision of AIG Sandeep Goyal tracked down the accused. And all were arrested near the National Highway in Rajpura. He said that all the arrested accused have criminal records. Around 15 FIRs including murder and attempt to murder have been registered against accused Nata.
The police registered a case under section of Arms Act
He said that four criminal cases including two murders have been registered against the accused Rahul Bhandari. One criminal case related to murder has been registered against Varinder and about 12 FIRs including attempt to murder, robbery, NDPS and Excise Act related offenses have been registered against accused Amandeep Singh while two criminal cases including attempt to murder have been registered against accused Karan.

The ADGP said that during preliminary interrogation of the arrested accused, it has been revealed that Karan is a distant relative of Sunil Bhandari alias Nata. He was operating a hideout for the gang, while Amandeep Singh, who is a driver by profession and was driving an SUV at the time of his arrest, was helping the accused flee the state. An FIR has been registered under Section 25(6)(7) of the Arms Act at Police Station Punjab State Crime, SAS Nagar.
