A 15-year-old girl was being married off to a man twice her age in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. When the neighbors got information about the marriage, they dialed 112. On receiving information about child marriage, the police reached the spot and saved the girl from getting married to a man twice her age. The girl was also not ready for this marriage.
The police have arrested the girl’s parents and groom involved in the case. The police reached the spot and stopped the child marriage and handed over the girl to the child welfare department. Had the police not reached this marriage in Jagdishpur on time, another girl would have become a victim of child marriage.

When the police asked the girl’s family about this, the girl’s father said that he is poor and the groom is good, so he is getting his daughter married. The boy’s family did not take a single rupee of dowry. The groom was ready to marry without dowry.
