Once this service starts, passengers will save a lot of time.
Until now, devotees had to cross difficult roads to visit Adi Kailash, due to which the danger increased with time, but with the help of MI-17 helicopter, the journey to Adi Kailash will become much easier. Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Adi Kailas, the number of people visiting Adi Kailas has increased rapidly. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj said that the air sighting service with MI-17 helicopter will start from November.
Helicopter service to Adi Kailash
This service will not only arrange the darshan of Adi Kailash but devotees will also be given the darshan of Om Parvat, Kailash view point. However, as the altitude of the darshan place is more than 14 thousand feet, the age limit has been fixed at 55 years considering the lack of oxygen. Health checkup will also be done before starting the journey. Only then the next journey can begin.

The pilgrimage to Adi Kailash will begin from Pithoragarh, from where an Army MI-17 helicopter will take 15 passengers at a time to Gunji village. From Gunji village, high power four-wheelers will reach Nabhidhang, 21 km further, from where the first devotees can have a glimpse of Mount Om. The devotees will then reach the old Lipulekh pass 9 km further under the protection of Army and ITBP personnel.

Devotees will be able to see Mount Kailash from the view point built on the peak near Lipulekh, for which the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam under the Department of Tourism is busy making preparations and arrangements. According to Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, there is a 200-meter walkway in the middle for easy travel of pilgrims, which is being repaired so that devotees do not face any problem.
