ABVP’s ‘Mission Sahasi’ completed in Kolkata, self-defence training imparted to female students

A two-day self-defense program was organized under the auspices of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Vidyarthi Vikas Trust ‘Mission Sahari’ at Sports Academy of India premises in Kolkata. The program concluded on Sunday. Meanwhile, famous actress Roopa Ganguly was the chief guest and Rashmi Samant, former president of Oxford University Students’ Union, was the special guest. Along with this, National Minister Shalini Verma, National Organization Minister Ashish Chauhan, National Co-Organization Minister Govind Nayak, famous trainer Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bharadwaj were also present in the program.

The program, which was organized on September 14-15, taught hundreds of girls about self-defence and trained them in various subjects, including medical. In this two-day training, in total four sessions, a team of professional trainers led by Grandmaster Shifuji Shaurya Bhardwaj taught practical self-defense techniques.

Need a mission adventurer in Bengal

Rashmi Samant, former president of Oxford University Students’ Union, who was present during the closing ceremony, said that creative programs like Mission Sahari will definitely show the way to strengthen and improve the girls and students of West Bengal mentally and physically. In the last few months in West Bengal alarming cases of crime against women have come to light, organizing programs like Mission Sahari is very necessary to change this situation.

Shalini Verma, national minister of ABVP, said that the student council is making many efforts for women empowerment. Mission Sahasya Abhiyan was started in the year 2018. Through this campaign, a comprehensive work has been started to empower female students studying in educational institutions across the country by imparting self-defence training. He further said that it is hoped that in these two days the female students trained under Mission Sahasi in Kolkata will become a strong voice of women in West Bengal and work to bring about positive change. Vidyarthi Parishad is committed to empowering, fearless and equal women in West Bengal through its role.
