AAP had opposed Kejriwal’s arrest
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is appearing in the Roose Avenue Court today in a money laundering case related to the liquor scam. On June 36, Kejriwal was sent on a 3-day remand which is ending today. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leaders have demonstrated outside the Bharatiya Janata Party office demanding Kejriwal’s release.
The Aam Aadmi Party launched a protest at the BJP headquarters in central Delhi on Saturday, June 29. The party had called for a demonstration at 11:30 pm to protest Kejriwal’s arrest. Regarding the protest, the Delhi Police said that AAP had not taken any permission to protest outside the headquarters. Officials said that paramilitary forces have been deployed to stop the protestors.

Section 144 applicable on DDU route
The BJP headquarters is located on Deendayal Upadhyay (DDU) Road in Central Delhi. The police have further said that if necessary, the protesters can be detained. For information, the police said that section 144 has already been imposed on DDU road. Roads are also closed. Full arrangements have been made to stop the protestors. The protesters raised anti-BJP slogans while the Aam Aadmi Party demanded Kejriwal’s release.

The High Court stayed the bail
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in the excise policy case. He was granted bail by the lower court but the High Court stayed his bail. The CBI arrested him on June 21, after which he was sent on three-day remand, though the CBI sought a five-day remand. The Aam Aadmi Party said that CBI and ED have arrested Kejriwal in a false case.
