Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of CM on September 17, after which now Kejriwal has to vacate the CM residence, but in the meantime Aam Aadmi Party has demanded government accommodation for Arvind Kejriwal from the central government.
AAP leader Raghav Chadha cited Election Commission rules. Raghav Chadha said that without any delay, Arvind Kejriwal, national coordinator of Rashtriya Party AAP, should get government accommodation. He further said that the Aam Aadmi Party has written to the Urban Department of the Central Government seeking legal rights. He also said that Arvind Kejriwal will leave the facility soon.
What did Raghav Chadha say?
Raghav Chadha said that within a few days, the central government should provide government accommodation to Kejriwal as per his legal rights. He said that Arvind Kejriwal will enter another house and leave the government facilities and go to the people’s court.
Raghav Chadha, citing the Election Commission Act, said that under the Election Commission Act, any national party is given 2 meanings:
- National office is given.
- The national coordinator of the party is also given government accommodation.
Targeted at BJP
Raghav Chadha said that we demand the central government to provide government accommodation to national convener Arvind Kejriwal. Hitting out at the BJP, he said, BJP wants to keep Arvind Kejriwal away from their assembly at any cost and Arvind Kejriwal wants to stay in their assembly, where getting a home is not an easy task. According to the rules, Arvind Kejriwal should get a house.
Kerjiwal resigned from the post of CM
Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail on September 13 after being lodged in Tihar Jail in an alleged liquor scam case. After getting bail, Kejriwal made a big announcement on September 15. He said that he will resign from the post of CM after 2 days. Kejriwal resigned from his post on 17 September and the party made Atishi the CM of Delhi. After resigning from the post of CM, Kejriwal will now have to vacate the CM residence due to which the party is now demanding government accommodation for him.
